 How
will I be referred to the Centre?
You should be referred by either your GP or local specialist. Your first
move should be to discuss the matter with your GP anyway, as with any health
problem. If your problem is still at an early stage, whether a hormone
disorder or infertility, we can send your GP written information about basic
essential investigations. We have a basic information pack about infertility
for your reference and guidance.
Who will I meet when I first visit the Centre
... and what will I need?
On your first visit, you will meet your specialist who will discuss your
case and explain the options open to you. If it is likely you will need
assisted conception treatment we will send you a detailed information
booklet beforehand so that you will be well prepared for the discussions and
ready with important questions. Preliminary tests can be carried out before
this first meeting.
What are your assisted conception success rates?
Success rates depend on the cause of a couple's infertility and particularly
the woman's age, but most couples have a 50 per cent chance of successfully
having a baby - not just of starting a pregnancy - after three cycles of
treatment. And the chance continues to rise with more cycles of treatment if
necessary.
