Why I need an egg donor

I am 42 years old. We have been having treatment for many years.

Initially we had IVF treatment using my own eggs. Unfortunately I didn’t respond to the drugs and was devastated to learn that I wouldn’t be able to have a baby with my own eggs. I was advised to consider using donor eggs and we were given counselling to come to terms with this news.

I was very aware of time passing as I was now 39 years old. I knew that there was a huge waiting list and that I could only have treatment before my 45th birthday.

We waited over 2 years to have treatment and happily were successful. There are the normal risks of miscarriage etc. to my pregnancy and if I  was to lose the pregnancy I would not have time at the Bristol clinic to have more treatment because the wait and my age would make it impossible.
